Jointly designed and implemented commodities trading and portfolio accounting software and foundational object libraries using NextStep and Objective C. Set up and ran a Frame Relay TCP/IP and IPX WAN connecting the Chicago office with traders in New York and San Francisco, with the Chicago Board Options Exchange trading floor, and with several information providers. Set up and ran a mixed network running Next Mach, Windows NT 3.51, and Windows NT 4.0; developed and maintained Flow Systems Internet presence.

Helped with design and implementation of a corporate risk management and trading software package using NextStep 3.3 and EOF 1.1 Managed systems administration staff in Apollo offices in Chicago, London, and Frankfurt. Planned and executed move of London office and electronic trading operations with zero downtime. Designed, implemented, and maintained Frame Relay and T1 WAN connecting all offices and trading floor locations, totaling nine sites. Wrote network and OS monitoring tools in Perl and C. Installed and maintained an Auspex file server. Responsible for systems and network documentation and disaster planning.

Designed and wrote extensive collection of tools for monitoring, managing, and maintaining a network of Unix machines. Converted from a mixed network of Unix and DOS machines to all-Unix network, maintaining legacy software in SoftPC. Implemented regular backups. Became primary contact for user support for over 50 traders and support staff. Installed and maintained third-party and home-grown software for trading, accounting, and general office tasks.

Co-founded and ran a consultancy that provided hardware, software, training, and support to the publishing, graphic arts, and television industries. Extensive experience with digital pre-press, cross-platform networking, and with writing proposals and documentation. Also designed and wrote custom fonts in PostScript to give continuously-variable "hand-lettering" effect.
